Android Dev Summit 2026: useful agents still need quality checks
New Android tooling brings agents closer to mobile workflows. The relevant outcome is reliable software rather than code volume.
At Dev Summit, Google introduced stable Android Studio Rabbit 2 and tools offering developers more choice when working with agents.
The KIMY perspective
Automation is useful to a mobile team only when its results can be checked. An agent can prepare a change, but acceptance criteria still belong to the product: reliable login, preserved data, understandable notifications and usable behaviour on a weak network. We recommend a first trial on an isolated feature. Compare total delivery time, including review and fixes, with your current workflow before expanding the approach. Faster editing alone is not evidence of faster delivery.
What to check
- Choose a small task with explicit acceptance criteria.
- Test on physical devices and different screen sizes.
- Keep human review of permissions and sensitive data access.
