TanStack Redact: lighter React delivery comes with trade-offs

Reducing JavaScript can help an interface, provided compatibility and responsiveness are measured on representative user devices.

TanStack introduced Redact as a browser-side alternative to React and React DOM. Its rendering is synchronous and does not include React time slicing.

The KIMY perspective

A smaller bundle is a hypothesis worth testing on your own application. For a catalogue or customer portal, first identify the real bottleneck: images, network requests, rendering or third-party scripts. Replacing the rendering layer without a diagnosis can simply move the problem. We favour a limited, reversible prototype compared on a representative phone. Long interactions, dependencies and assistive technology belong in the assessment alongside download size. Agree what improvement would justify maintenance of a different runtime.

What to check

  • Measure the current journey before changing it.
  • Compare component compatibility and interaction behaviour.
  • Define an expected benefit and a simple rollback.
